RECENT EVENTS
HOUSTON, TX — Members of SamarLeyte Texas joined fellow community supporters in celebrating Filipino heritage and unity during the Kalayaan 2026 Fun Run held on April 19, 2026, at Goforth Park. The event brought together participants from different organizations across Houston including the Philippine Consular staffs for a morning of fitness, camaraderie, and cultural pride.
Organized by Philippine Kalayaan of Houston led by its current chairman, Ana Daquigan in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General in Houston, the fun run served as a key fundraising initiative in preparation for upcoming Independence Day festivities. Participants of all ages took part in the event, demonstrating strong community engagement and support for Filipino traditions abroad.
Proceeds from the run will go toward the highly anticipated Philippine Independence Day celebration scheduled for June 13, 2026, at GSH Event Center. The annual celebration is expected to feature cultural performances, food, and activities that highlight the rich heritage of the Philippines.
