Texas Scholarship Application Requirements
(Application deadline is September 2, 2022)
The SamarLeyte Scholarship Program provides a need-based scholarship award for freshmen students that is based on financial need, in addition to academic performance and personal character. A one-time grant of $1, 500 will be awarded to individual who meets the following criteria:

Available to high school graduates/graduating high school senior entering college.

Must be enrolled or about to enroll in an accredited two or four- year college/university in Texas (provide proof of acceptance).

Citizen of the U.S and a legal resident of Texas (at least one year prior to application)

Demonstrates academic potential and ability (must submit high school GPA- GPA minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale)

Must submit original essay,” Why is education instrumental in alleviating poverty?” (750 to 1,000 words)

Must provide a letter of endorsement from a professor/counsellor/pastor/priest vouching for good character.

Demonstrates a need for financial assistance (household income no greater than $60,000).
The SamarLeyte Scholarship Post Graduate Program is a career building grant that is based on a career field and community involvement. A one-time grant of $1, 000 will be awarded to individual who meets the following criteria:

Must have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

Must be a citizen of the U.S and a legal resident of Texas

Must be currently employed and working on a career field related to nursing

Must be enrolled or about to enroll in a master’s degree or doctorate program in an accredited university

Must complete an essay, “How can advancement in education contribute to economic growth?” (750-1,000 words)
Leyte & Samar Philippine Scholarship Application Requirements (Application is closed)
Students accepted to the scholarship program will be awarded up to P66,000 per year. Board top notchers may be given an opportunity for an Education Tour to Texas, USA, pending visa approval.
General Eligibility Requirements:

Born in Samar or Leyte

Proof of Indigence (family income below P50,000 per year - supported by Barangay Certificate or BIR Tax Filing documents and number of household members attested by Barangay Certificate)

High school senior GWA of 85% and above

Acceptance to a Baccalaureate Program or currently enrolled (with GWA of 2.5 and above from previous semester) at Leyte Normal University (LNU) or Visayas State university (VSU)

Full Semester Load

Not a recipient of any other scholarship/grant

Of Good Moral Character (School recommendation letter and Barangay Clearance)
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the scholarship grant you would like to apply is no longer part of the options, then application for that grant is already closed for this academic year.
